March 20, 2026 - Students at Serene Lake Elementary give a "Roaring" Performance!

Over the past nine months, 50 Serene Lake Elementary third, fourth, and fifth grade students engaged in an extraordinary learning experience through Disney Musicals in Schools, in partnership with Seattle Theatre Group, culminating in performances of The Lion King Kids this week.

These performances showcased not only student talent but also the impact of arts education in fostering belonging, creativity, and academic growth, truly reflecting the spirit of the “circle of life” in a learning community.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated educators, Mallory Hanson, Amy Peters, Vivian Larsen, Graham Wood, Jessi Jarvis, and Alyssa Jiwani, for bringing this rich learning experience to life for our students. And kudos to the Voyager Middle School and Kamiak High School theater departments for all of their work to make this a spectacular event!

The arts create meaningful opportunities for students to engage deeply, take risks, and see themselves as capable learners and performers, reminding us that, like Simba, our students are discovering their voice and stepping into who they are meant to become.
