Poetry 180: A Poem a Day for American High Schools
Billy Collins, poet laureate of the United States, has compiled a list of poems that can be read aloud to students every day school is in session. Each poem, selected "with high school students in mind," has publishing and copyright information related to it, from the Library of Congress site.

American & English Poetry 1250-1920: This superb poetry site contains several collections of poetry including the Oxford Book of English Verse, Yale Book of American Verse, Modern British Poetry, Modern American Poetry, Metaphysical Lyrics, and Poems of the 17th Century, and the Golden Treasury. 

Poets
Use this site from The Academy of American Poets to search for poets and poetry, hear poems in the "Listening Booth," and locate information about National Poetry Month, celebrated every April. Includes news; an index of major poetry publishers, periodicals, and distributors; an events calendar; and tip sheets on setting up programs, events, and classes. "Poetry Awards" is a list of major American poetry awards with recent recipients. 

The Poetry & Literature Center of the Library of Congress 
Offers information on poetry awards and events at the Library of Congress, "cybercasts" of readings by the present poet laureate and previous ones, and a description of the library's Archive of Recorded Poetry & Literature. Also serves as the official site for the poet laureate of the United States, with a history of that position since 1937.

The Poetry Archive 
This British site offers audio files of "English-language poets reading their own work. Some are historic recordings, some have been made specially for the Archive." Browse by poet or name of poem. Includes videos of interviews with selected poets, lesson plans, access to the "Children's Poetry Archive," and links to poetry sites for students and to other material. 

Poetry Daily
A new poem is posted daily. "Poems are chosen from the work of a wide variety of poets published in the English language. The daily poem is selected for its topical or seasonal interest, as well as for its literary quality." Past poems are archived for a year and arranged by author, title, or date used. News contains links to recent articles, reviews, and interviews of poets.

Internet Poetry Archive
Selected poems by Philip Levine, Seamus Heaney, Czelaw Milosz, Robert Pinsky, Yusef Komunyakaa, Margaret Walker, and Richard Wilbur. Includes brief biographies and audio and video files of the poets reading their works. Sponsored by the University of North Carolina Press and the North Carolina Arts Council.

PoetsWest 
This Seattle-based nonprofit organization's goal is to link "the poet with readers and listeners in the broader democratic community." The website includes a directory of Northwest poets, a calendar of poetry reading events, a selection of online poems, poetry reviews, and links.

Poetry Out Loud
This audio guide contains distinguished actors and poets reading and speaking about poetry. Listen to these tracks to help you or your students master the art of recitation.
