Local Scholarships 2024-2025

  • Diversity in Education Scholarship

     

     

     

    The purpose of this scholarship is to support Mariner High School students from historically marginalized populations who desire to teach in public school settings. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year to a Mariner senior for tuition at the recipient’s chosen college or university. Prior recipients may reapply for continuing support during each of their undergraduate years so long as they remain in good academic standing and are pursuing a teaching certificate.

     

    Preference is given to students who:

    • Identify with an historically marginalized population based on race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, orientation, or disability.
    • Have been accepted into an accredited college or university.
    • Will attend a public college or university in Washington State or an Historically Black College/University.
    • Desire to teach in an historically under-served setting.
    • Demonstrate financial need.

     

     

    Applicants must submit each of the following:

    • Completed Application Form and two essays (described at the end of the application)
    • Two letters of recommendation from teachers or other school staff
    • One copy of your transcript
    • Optional: College/University Acceptance Letter

Mariner HS Scholarship Nomination Interest Form: Each year, the Mariner HS Career & College Readiness Center and school counselors may be asked to nominate seniors for a few scholarships. Seniors who are interested in potentially being nominated must complete the Scholarship Nomination Interest Form to be considered for these scholarships. 23-24 Scholarship & Award Nomination Interest Form
