College in the High School (CiHS)

Earn High School and College Credit—Right at Mariner!

What is College in the High School (CiHS)?

College in the High School is a program that gives students in grades 9–12 the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit by taking advanced, college-level courses offered right here at their high school.

CiHS courses are taught by qualified high school teachers and provide students with an authentic college-level academic experience while they are still in high school. Depending on the course and participating college, credits may be transferable to other colleges and universities.

Will it cost me money?

College in the High School classes are FREE for students attending a Washington public high school!

There is no tuition cost to students for eligible CiHS courses. However, students must complete the required college registration process in order to officially receive college credit and have their tuition covered.

Why should I take a CiHS course?

CiHS can be a great opportunity to:

  • 🎓 Earn college credit while in high school

  • 💰 Save money on future college tuition

  • 📚 Challenge yourself with college-level coursework

  • Build confidence and strengthen your academic record

  • 🏫 Experience college-level expectations while still having the support of your high school

  • 🚀 Get a head start on your college education and future goals

Important: Register for College Credit!

Simply taking a CiHS course does not automatically mean you will receive college credit. Students must complete the required registration steps by the established deadline.

If you are interested in earning college credit through your CiHS course, don't wait! Meet with your school counselor for help understanding the registration process, deadlines, and available courses.
