More than 35 students participated, handing out all 80 roses and 75 chocolate bags they prepared as part of an ongoing community‑service partnership.
Club president Katie Chandrabalan said the experience reflects the heart of their work. “It’s a huge unique opportunity for us to make people feel loved with such a simple task, Katie shared that in the memory care unit, three residents were moved to tears. One woman, after receiving her rose, asked why she deserved such kindness, an interaction Katie called especially meaningful.
Students were moved to see residents proudly displaying their gifts. Katie hopes the experience inspires more teens and adults to spark even the smallest conversations with others, noting that simple moments of connection often “lead to more connection.”
Across our district, students celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week, which formally began Monday, February 16-20. They started early because schools are closed for Mid-Winter Break. Students and staff shared kind notes, helped each other with tasks, showed encouragement, and more!
